I was scared my the low ratings on Google Maps but when I actually stayed I had a different experience. The place is definitely a hostel. Folks who have stayed in hostels before will not have a lot of problems staying here. Yes, it’s very old and stairs are hell - but it’s clean! When you crash on the beds after spending entire day (and the night) exploring NYC, you’ll have a comfortable sleep. The plumbing needs getting used to it. For e g - It took a random amount of time for my shower to disperse hot water. I stayed late spring/ early summer so these issues were bearable. I would be more cautious to book this in the colder months. I couldn’t find a water filter anywhere. Not providing soap was weird.

Had a great stay here. Was worried about the quality of the space, but it turned out to be great. Shared room with 3 other girls. The check in was smooth & the workers are helpful. I don’t think there is a hair dryer though. You need to bring your own locker as well, and keep it inside your room. The stay was decent. There’s also a common room and kitchen, with fridge, microwave, and basic amenities.

I'm going to give 5 stars, despite of a little bad experience I had with the old guy with glasses who was at the front desk when I checked out. I'm not to judge but his attitude was bad, asked him for a little favor, he ended up being a bit rude. His attitude definitely doesn't match with the good service the hostel offers. I was pretty comfortable, and every area was clean, price very good, great location, fast Wi-Fi, I recommend this place for a few days definitely.

I will definitely be staying here again. This place kept me warm during a blizzard and the staff worked so hard to shovel all the snow around the building. i don't know what the peak season rate is but I'm so grateful for the $40ish/night I paid, and in lower Manhattan?? I couldn't ask for more. Thank you so much
